December Newsletter

If you have read my previous blog post, you may already know that November was a pretty crazy month. With that said, December proved to be more balancing.

One thing that happened in November was that Jon and I moved out of our apartment and into our new home in Tempe, AZ. Since then we have begun to settle into our space and I have been able to establish a spot within the home to pick my work back up. Among other things in November, moving had proved it difficult to keep my work up. I am happy to report that I am now back in full swing, experimenting, painting, and drawing.

It was as if during this transformation period I was building up all this energy to work on my artwork and not being able to work on it without disruption made me grow anxious. I feel a sort of anxiety build up when I am unable to work on anything. I mean, I was painting the house, working on my website and building my first youtube video but I really didn’t find time to actually PAINT or DRAW for any extended period of time.

Does anyone else feel this? Like a build up in your chest that makes you antsy when you aren’t dedicating enough time to creating? I realized it more than ever this time around.

BUT now we are at the end of December and since moving in and finding my spot to create, I have made several new Studio Challenges, 2 of which I have put up on my site for sale ( one of which has sold) and two larger pieces that are now also up on my site.

In December, I was also a proud participant in the Tiny Works Show held at The 9 Gallery in Phoenix. A month long show, exhibiting local artist and their tiny work, a way to get affordable art into the hands of collectors of all kinds, I was also one of the proud artists who painted mini guitars for auction in partnership with Six Strings Acoustic, to raise money in music for children with special needs.

This month, it was hard to get my momentum back up in the beginning but now I am feeling more inspired each day and look forward to the next year and all it has in store.

Next month, you can expect some more ink pieces and a youtube video about applying gold leaf and one video about some basic tips on developing your skills as an artist.

Have a great rest of the remaining decade and have a great start to your new year

A few things created this past month… including our salad servers that I decided to decorate with my burning tool.
